Comice pear, the most expensive pear in the world, plays a crucial role. Not fruitiness, but the effect of fruit melting into skin. Sweet just enough, faintly green, silky like slicing a chilled pear with a glass knife and pressing it against the skin. It melts. It seeps in. It leaves the sensation of pear juice slowly trickling down your collarbone. Ambergris lies in the base. You cannot clearly detect it, yet it holds everything together: it anchors the musk so it doesn’t drift away, it keeps the pear from thinning out, it preserves that feeling of skin lightly kissed with a sweet-salty touch.
